Janessa Meets Winnipeg

Well hey there happy campers.

I know you must be happy, we're in the home stretch. Life is good, and well as soon as the snow is gone it will be even better.

I just wanted to take a moment to share with you a little bit about my IPP (independent professional project) that I will be working on starting this May until March of 2014.

I was given the approval to work on a TV show for Shaw TV. The title (which is currently pending) is Janessa Meets Winnipeg. I am going to be creating, producing, hosting, and editing a 28 minute episode that will air on Shaw TV as well as a YouTube channel (once I figure that out). I am going to be focusing on the younger demographic in Winnipeg (16-25 years of age) because I don't think they get enough recognition. I have been meeting with Shaw producers already and they are more than excited to see what I'm going to be producing.

Between September and December of this year, I will be filming (a lot) of footage to compile for this episode. Now I know some of you non-crecomms might think well 28 minutes how much could you possibly have to film? I have pretty much dedicated most evenings and weekends to filming in those four months if that answers your question.

Even though I will have some guidance from my instructors and the staff at Shaw TV, I'm pretty excited to see what I will be able to come up with on my own. This is something that I could definitely see myself doing as a future career and if all goes well that very well could happen.

Over the summer, I will be practicing filming some shots with people to see what I like and what I don't like. I plan to make one or two commercials to put on my YouTube channel and hopefully feature at some Goldeyes games this summer. Even though that's pretty far away, I will be providing links to where people can stay updated throughout the year with my project so that they remember to watch it when the time comes.

Well that's all I'm going to say for now! Be sure to check out Shaw TV in February 2014 for the premiere of my very first episode of Janessa Meets Winnipeg.
