You Have Your Opinion, I Have Mine

The trend I chose to write about this week is mention a dislike. Well there's a few things in life I dislike such as spiders, snowstorms, and homework. But one thing I really dislike is when people try and say their opinion is right.

If I say that imperial cookies are the best cookies, that's my opinion. If I say my favorite TV show is Big Brother, that's my opinion. If I say coffee is better with sugar, that again is my opinion.

So why if I have these personal opinions would someone else feel the need to come and say 'your opinion is wrong?' It really frustrates me hearing this, even for other people because you really can't tell someone their opinion is wrong. Just because someone believes something one way doesn't mean you have to feel the same way. The most annoying thing is social media because people have the freedom to voice their opinion and 'lie' about it and say 'oh I wasn't referring to ________ I was talking about_______' because in most cases that's never true.

Another thing I don't like is when I'm talking about something, let's say Cre Comm (because this happens a lot) and people start butting in with their opinion talking about how a college program couldn't possibly be better than a university degree. Well for the record, I will have both when I'm done this program and if I don't ask for your opinion on my school you should probably keep your thoughts to yourself. I could say A LOT about this, but I'm going to be polite and keep my feelings to myself.

To finish off, I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you are asked for it, then please do tell and let the world know how you feel. But if you're not asked, you should politely accept that and move on.

  1. I agree with this completely. In fact, I don't think you can really call an opinion "right" or "wrong". You can call a claim or fact right or wrong, but never an opinion. Opinions don't require evidence.
