When I was younger and I used to visit my grandparents, I always wondered why there would be so much 'stuff' and 'junk' in their house. Why do they collect such silly things, and so many of them?
My grandparents would always tell me that someday I will have things that I collect and my grandkids will ask the same question. And when it was their time to go to heaven that I could have those things and pass them along to my grandkids.
As I got older, I always thought why on Earth would I want any of these things? Why would I keep them just so they can collect more dust in my house? I never want to be a hoarder. Ever. Trust me, I've seen that show and I just couldn't deal. But sometimes, little treasures can bring wonderful memories to life.
I love to buy (and collect) watches. I love the different colors, styles, etc. I love modern and vintage ones. My grandma was also one who loved to wear watches. Now, a lot of hers don't work anymore but I love that I am able to have them as a keepsake and as a memory of her. One that I have (seen below) was the one she wore on her wedding day and I hope that maybe (if the time ever comes) that I may also be able to wear it on mine.
I don't collect a lot of things (other than shoes and watches) but every item I have (or most anyway) all have a story behind them. I am hoping that one day I will be able to share the stories from my grandma's watches with my grandkids and keep them passed on.
