Rebranding : A Double Dose

Good Morning!

Such an early hour to be typing this post but I felt inspired this morning while taking the 6am bus ride to school.

As you may have noticed, I am in the process of changing my blog's name. Advice from a second year student was given to me on not blogging on just one topic for fear of running out of things to say or becoming to cliche. So thanks to her advice I am in the process of rebranding my blog. I will now post anything (and everything) that is on my mind and hopefully all goes well!

What is rebranding you ask? Well good question. As defined by Wikipedia (I know terrible source but the definition seems spot on) rebranding is the creation of a new name, term, symbol, design, or combination therof for an established brand with the intention of differentiated (new) position in the mind of stakeholders and competitors. Basically to sum it up, it's keeping the brand but making a new look for it that might appeal or attract a new set of consumers.

So now double dose of rebranding..so you ask well where's the other part? Well as most of you may have (and should have) noticed by now, Hot 103 has changed it's name to Virgin Radio as of recently. The company Astral Media has rebranded several other stations to Virgin across many cities in Canada as well.

Now why the change? We have grown up with and known 103.1 as Hot 103 for years now. Well like all things, change has to come at some point or another. They still play the same music, have the same shows and hosts, just a new name. It will still be the station we know and love, we just need to get used to the name. Virgin Radio has several ads including multiple billboard ads to promote their new name and hopefully make it easier for people to remember the new name.

That's all I have to say for today. PS tune into Red River Radio 9-12 today and I will be your source for sports at the top of every hour. Today was my first day actually doing sports on the radio so hopefully it doesn't sound too bad!

And one other thing....Goldeys are one win away from becoming the American Association champions so GO GOLDEYES!!

  1. I agree it's easier to just write about whatever comes to mind... but remember your objective is to write for a particular public. Make sure the topics you choose to write about are related enough to keep your readers coming back. :)
