I had a different idea for my post this week however a turn of events this morning made me change my mind.
I was on my usual bus ride to school this morning. Like most people either tired or thinking of what was in store for the day ahead. As our bus was nearing the end of Portage just about to turn onto Main our bus stopped. I was confused thought maybe someone was running for the bus or we were just early. Then the bus driver put the bus in park and stepped off the bus to go talk to a homeless man walking by. This man looked very scraggly; ripped jeans, long hair, and no shoes. The bus driver went up to the man said 'hey buddy.' The few passengers on board including myself all watched to see what was going on. Then we all witnessed the most random act of kindness. The bus driver took his shoes off gave them to the man and came back on the bus. The bus was silent as we all just watched in amazement.
He continues to drive and turns onto Main. Another woman passenger went up to the front of the bus and said 'that was a really nice thing you did there.' The bus driver said 'well it's just shoes' and most of us were just so happy by this incredible act we witnessed.
This may not seem like a lot but it truly warmed my heart. Normally I have to deal with grumpy bus drivers at such an early hour. Ones that really don't want to be there or just don't care about being friendly. This man was amazing today and it's something that I wish more people would do on a regular basis. All it took was a little act of kindness to make so many peoples' days.

So you were on that bus, too. Great story.
