Bring on Winnipeg Winter

Working in retail has it's pros and cons....but one of the pros are all the funny and crazy people I get to see and just laugh about after. Sometimes I just get the urge to rant about them....

This is a dumb story, because it happens every year. EVERY. YEAR. Those parents who wait until snow comes to buy their kids boots and expect that we will have plenty of each style of boot in every single size. UMM NO. That is not how it works....see the smart parents come buy their kids boots when we first get them about the beginning of October. Great selection, usually a good sale, and you are guaranteed to find what you are looking for. I am so sorry but if you come in three days after the first big snowfall and expect to find a size, the odds are not in your favour. HELLO. Winter happens every year....why do you wait until snow comes?! Winnipeg winters can happen anytime between October and December depending what mother nature decides to do, so why chance it? When parents walk in and come up to me and say 'is this all that you have for kids boots?' they look so baffled when I say well yes this is all that's left...come on obviously if boots are 50% off the Friday before the big snow storm people are going to take advantage of that.

I also love the parents who come in when I am tidying up kids boots trying to pair them together and find their proper box and ask me 'why is it such a mess over here? Why are there boots everywhere?' as they proceed to rip apart MORE boxes just making it that much more difficult for everyone.

Anyway, my advice to parents: get your kids boots as soon as you can. Essentially it'll be better for everyone in the long run.

After this weekend I also feel like I can call myself a true Manitoban. Normally the first snowfall I usually hibernate until the roads are clear because if my car gets stuck I'm essentially useless. But I along with a few other first year Cre Commers braved the blizzard white out roads and went to a social. Crazy right? Maybe, but it was rather fun and it made it easier to forget about all the stress from the previous week. I also won $50 so hey it was pretty good all in all. Props to Allison Pattison and Samantha Gamble for putting on such a great social!

(I could not find a creative picture so I decided on a penguin)
