A Date You'll Never Forget

We've all had them....the good, the bad, and the ugly dates. The ones we want to remember forever and the ones we wish had never happened. I can say I've had a few of both but one of my more positive ones is one I will remember for a long time.

Graduating is a huge milestone in everyone's life. When you finally get that diploma and that sense of accomplishment you feel like you're on top of the world. The dinner and safe grad is usually one last chance to say goodbye to some classmates you might not see again or won't see very often.

I stressed out about grad a little bit. Not because I wasn't going to graduate or because I couldn't find that perfect dress (because I did) but I couldn't decide whether or not to bring a date. The group of friends I went with all had someone they were planning on bringing and I was just stuck deciding.

There were pros and cons to this. Pros would be well I'd get some awesome pictures to have to show my kids / grandkids one day. I'd get to have someone to talk to if other people just wandered off. It would make a fun memory forever.

Cons....well okay I didn't have a boyfriend at the time so I didn't have that whole 'what if we break up then I need to burn all my grad pictures' thought in my mind. (trust me I know quite a few people who said this) I didn't want to feel like I was being rude if I had to leave him for a bit or sit there and talk to him all night when I had other people to talk to.

In the end I decided I would bring my best friend as my date. There was no conflict, he was really fun, and it was a super awesome night. I will never forget grad because the whole experience was something to really remember. It's hard to believe it's almost been four years since I graduated and that I will be graduating college/university next year but every step has been a journey and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

  1. This reminds me of what happened to one of my friends at grad. His experience wasn't as happy as yours turned out to be. Him and his girlfriend had recently broke up and not wanting to go solo he asked one of our friends younger sister to be his date. To go with one of your "cons" to not bring a date, she had ditched him the entire night to flirt with the resident bad boy of my grade. I'm glad your grad experience turned out better then his did.
