Things You Shouldn't Do

There are so many things you shouldn't do. Rob a bank, steal a car, jump off a 20 story building...Well over the past few months in Cre Comm I've learned a lot about how to deal with stress, time management, and my overall well being. I've made a lot of mistakes but I've learned from them. Here are some don'ts based on things that have happened this semester.

My Top 10 Don'ts

#10- Don't leave things where they don't belong. This is more for if you live at home, but parents go crazy if you forget to put things away. Just do it and save yourself the trouble later.

#9- Don't let your car get under a 1/4 tank of gas when it's -45 degrees outside. Even if it's plugged in, it sometimes just doesn't wanna start.

#8- Don't spend all your money if you're working 10 or less hours per week. Remember you do have to pay for essentials (bus pass, car, cell phone, school events) and you don't wanna get stuck for payments. Go out and have fun, but in moderation.

#7- Don't stay up all night. You need your rest, especially with a bunch of assignments and tasks to do during the day.

#6- Don't sleep in til the last possible minute. This sounds nice in theory, but if you have to bus to school or there's bumper to bumper traffic and you've got an assignment due at 8am..you're not doing yourself a favour by getting that extra 10 minutes of sleep.

#5- Don't spread yourself too thin. Sure volunteering and working is good, but make sure you have your priorities in order.

#4- Don't sit on your butt everyday. Take time and go to the gym, take a yoga class, try kick boxing. Even walking up and down the stairs on your study break. It keeps your brain sharp and you will feel a lot better.

#3- Don't always rely on others. It's nice to ask for favours but make sure you have a back up plan incase things go wrong.

#2- Don't forget about family and friends. Even though you rarely see them, they're still there. It may seem like everyone else has disappeared but that can sometimes mean that you're just getting too busy.

#1- Don't make everyday a busy day. If you work, book off the weekends or one or two days to relax. You need one day to compose yourself and get organized.
